Employment Law Changes: Employer Responsibilities

Saudi labor law is continuously evolving to balance employer flexibility with worker protection. Recent amendments and Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) circulars have introduced several obligations that every employer must address. Key responsibilities include: updating employment contracts to comply with the new Labor Law and its implementing regulations; ensuring timely wage payments through the Wage Protection System (WPS); complying with Saudization (Nitaqat) quotas; providing proper end-of-service benefits calculations; and maintaining accurate employee records for inspection. Additionally, the introduction of flexible work arrangements, remote work regulations, and updated disciplinary procedures require employers to revise their internal HR policies. Non-compliance can result in fines, suspension of government services, and—in severe cases—criminal liability. We help employers audit their HR practices, draft compliant contracts, and represent them before labor dispute committees.
